If you are short on time and need to narrow your choices. Bottom line = if you have a lot of time in London, by all means, make a visit. Even the torture things you hear so much about was just one room with 3 replica examples, and that was it. The very best part of this visit (in our opinion) was walking the ramparts for the views inside & out, and witnessing the Ravens. and apparently, I manufactured that thought in my imagination because nothing was there. My impression was ALL Crown Jewels resided here when not in use. Nothing worn by Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Princess Diana, King Charles, etc was there to be seen. Fully disappointed! There was not one tiara on display and absolutely nothing on display from the current House of Windsor. After weaving through a darkened area with no real order (people just wandering in every direction), we made it through all the displays within 20 minutes. Our wait time was 20 minutes and we were inside. Upon entering a little after opening time, we decided The Crown Jewels should be first to visit as the line was forming and getting longer quickly. Given we were in London for only 3 full days, we worked to prioritize our itinerary of activities to make the most of our time, and this visit made the list. Having learned much about the Tudor Era and some specifics surrounding the Tower's historical significance, my husband & I looked forward to this visit with anticipation. ![]() If you are doing that tour anyway, it might be a good deal but the official website adult price is currently less than £25 and the bus tours are offering “discounted” tickets at £27.50. ![]() Sometimes the bus tour companies offer discounted tickets in conjuction with the Hop On-Hop Off tours. When you have the time, I highly recommend booking directly on the official Historic Royal Palaces website for the best price and taking four or five hours to view the Tower of London properly. We were here on a dry, warmish day in January and the area was not overly busy. Some of the best places for photos outside the tower are the sundial at the Tower Hill underground station and the boat dock - Tower Millenium Pier. I know from before that you really need to spend at least half a day, if not longer, to get around the tower and see everything. We just stopped for some photos and talked about it. I’ve been inside the tower not long ago but, this time I was taking some visitors on a whirlwind tour of London and we didn’t go inside.
